Right, it's time for another blog post I guess. I haven't been a good blogger lately, and I'm fully aware of it too. So today I'm changing that. I have some exciting news to share, and I also want to share what I've been up to lately.
First of all! On September 1st my amazing Dad turned 80! Many of you sent your congrats to him on my Facebook page, and I'm actually printing them all so he can see them. But since he's so awesome and good looking at 80, I'm going to post his picture on the blog as well. He's the best Dad in the world and just look at him. 80!!! He was born in 1933. How amazing isn't that?
I love you Dad!!
Some of you may know that I got a new job. I have worked part time in a flower shop, but it's only a few hours every now and then. With my new courses at uni coming up I knew that I had to get another job, and I applied to a job as a substitute teacher in the county I live in.
Just a few weeks ago I got a phone call from one of the local primary schools, and the principal had read my email and was very keen on having me as their main substitute teacher. I went over for a chat, and the next day I was back teaching! So from now on, when one of the full time teachers are sick or can't work for some reason, I get a call and I take the classes instead. Just two weeks ago I was in there teaching full days from Monday to Friday, so it's all good so far. I finally get to put my five year long education to use, and I think the kids like me too!
My courses in uni started this week as well. It's a part time course with two school days a month (!) and in the meantime you work with assignments and field research.
Our texts are in English. On how to teach Norwegian to non-Norwegian speakers.
The course is called "Norwegian as a second language and multicultural pedagogy", and it's pretty cool so far. Ever since I started having lessons with foreign students in Norwegian, I've found a love for teaching Norwegian to adults. I have always been interested in other countries, cultures, traditions, religions etc, and since I'm also a teacher something like this would be the perfect job for me. I get to use my teacher education and I get to meet people from all over the world. That's why I have decided to embark on my sixth year in uni, so I can get the "official" qualification to teach Norwegian to foreigners.
Here's my back to uni outfit and best kawaii pose.
With work and uni out of the way, what's left? My private life I guess. As most of you know I'm still working out quite a lot. I've lost 17 kilos so far (37.4lbs) and I still have about 11 kilos (24lbs) to go before I reach my goal weight. Losing weight is not easy, and for the last couple of weeks I've been losing and gaining the same amount over and over again. I've hit a new plateau and my body needs to get used to the new weight before it can handle losing more weight. Even though it's super frustrating since I've been putting in a lot of hard work every week, but I still feel great about myself and I am way happier now than ever. So despite the weight being difficult with me, I'm motivated and I am still going strong.
Here's a recent before and "now" shot.
As mentioned, even though the scales are playing up I feel great. I've been shopping lately and I got myself two tops in size S and I even found myself a great winter coat in the same size. I've always had to look at the end of the clothes rack to find the largest sizes, and now I can fit into a size S. Pretty pleased with that!
Me and my boyfriend are also still happy together, and we're getting close to our 3 year anniversary. It will be celebrated in Oslo in November, we're going to see Volbeat. It's all good.
The next great thing is that it's getting super close to my Cyprus trip! I am beyond excited about seeing my friends and family again after 8 years, and I am also very excited about hitting the beach with my new body and swimsuit! I'm going with my Grandma, we're staying one week and it's going to be amazing. Can't wait.
The hotel. Yes please.
Right before the end, I'd like to pay my respect to two people who lost someone close to them last week. My thoughts are with you, and I am so sorry for your loss.
