Summer update

Hello people!

I thought I should do a little update again... a happy one!

It seems like this so-called Summer is pretty much crappy all over Europe this year. In this very moment it's super windy and rainy outside, and it looks like September or something. Although the Summer weather sucks, we've had a few good days with sun and some warm degrees.

I've been spending those days with my super awesome friend, and as always, we've had a lot of fun. We've been out shopping and went for so many long walks! We've celebrated our university success (we both got accepted to the courses we applied for), we've made bonfires and we've cleaned up the environment around us (on many different levels). The other day we even managed to eat some lovely BBQ food since her mother had her birthday party, and they invited me along. Good times indeed!

It's getting close to the end of this Summer holiday, and even though I'm disappointed with the weather, I'm still very happy with all of this. I've had such a great time with my friend and what I really love about her is that we don't have to do anything in particular. We can just sit there and talk about anything, drink some tea and have a great time for hours. We can go for a walk and eat some wild berries, and then pop back home into our jammies and watch girly movies in the evening. We've both accomplished so much over the last year, and we're proud of each other.

Even though we live far away from each other, we have decided to keep on supporting each other in our healthy/fitness challenge. It's so much easier changing your lifestyle/eating habits/exercise routines when you have someone supporting you no matter what, and if it's one thing we're good at, it's giving each other compliments! We're awesome.

The whole point of this blog post...? No matter how crappy the weather can be, you can make it awesome. Okay so we didn't get a tan, we didn't get to drink ice tea by the river, but we did so many other fun things! If there's something I've learnt, it's the value of a close friend. We've saved each other's Summer holiday and made it a Summer to remember.

Totally.

That's it for today! You can't change the fact that the Summer of 2012 may have been crap weather wise, but think about all the fun times and take a moment to appreciate those around you. The world does not revolve around you. It's the people around you, the good friends, who makes the darkest day hilarious! :)

A makeup life saver

Hello!

Today's post is a recommendation post, and this product has become one of my all time favourite products. It's totally affordable, it works and it's just brilliant.

A few weeks ago I was in a crazy shopping mood, and I decided to pop by E.L.F Cosmetics to see what I could find there. I've used E.L.F's facial primer before, and now my extremely expensive Body Shop primer was empty, so I figured I should try the E.L.F primer again. I've tried other things from this shop before without it being a great success, but sometimes you just find some really great products, like I did this time...

I gave myself a 200 NOK limit (about £20-21), and started searching the page for new things to try. I decided on the primer and two cream eye shadows. I've never used a cream shadow before, but I don't regret buying them. They're really great! I was a bit skeptical to the cream shadows, as I feared my liquid eyeliner would smudge and crease along with the creamy consistency of the eye shadows. That's one of my biggest make up problems of all time, the liquid liner becoming enemies with my eye shadow. After a whole day of wearing eyeliner I always end up with a double line and a smudgy look, no matter what.

Here's little photo showing the eye shadows. I've used both, and they're called "Natural Glow" (outer corner) and "Candlelight" (inner corner).

With this in mind I was considering getting a eye shadow primer, but then... suddenly I found the "Makeup Mist & Set" product. It says that the product keeps your makeup in place all day long, and it's moisturizing and soothing for the skin. With a price tag of £3.75, I thought why not and put one in my basket.

The things arrived, and the very next day I decided to put all of the new products on my face. I did the whole primer thing, both cream eye shadows with a thick eyeliner on top. I then sprayed my face with the mist as it said in the description (12-16inches away from face) and went to visit my friend. This was at 9 am.

After a long day of laughing, smiling and probably touching my face without thinking about it, I went home around 11 pm. I was shocked when I saw my face. The eyeliner was still ONE line and the eye shadow was still pretty and bright, with no traces of my liquid liner. Nothing!! That's the first time I've had that much makeup on for a full day without having the classical double line of eyeliner. I'm sold.

This product is really awesome! The other cool part is that it makes your skin look more natural even if you have heavy makeup on. I normally use a mix of liquid foundation with mineral powder foundation on top, and this day in particular I even had a third (!) layer of Barry M's translucent powder on top. With that amount of powder, my face looks like a peach. You can clearly see that I have some powder on my face and it looks a bit over the top. When I used the mist over it just made the powder and foundation "natural". It still covered my blemishes etc but it didn't look like I had caked on plenty of foundation. How cool is that?

I recommend this product with all of my heart, and I've used it daily since I got it. It works perfect on both cream and powder eye shadows, and it gives your skin a natural look even if you have tons of concealer, powder or whatever on your face. It's so cheap, it'll last you forever since you only need one or two sprays a day and it's truly a lifesaver when it comes to us eyeliner lovin' gals.

What is that in your ears?

Hello people!

Well, I'm in a bit of a blogging mood. The other day I was out shopping and someone whispered to their friend about something, clearly about me.. It turned out to be a massive problem for them that I had stretched ear lobes. With that experience in mind I felt like doing a little rockabilly related stretched ears-post!

I've had my ears stretched for about 6 years now. I started off with a small 3mm tunnel, and my ears are now stretched to 16mm. I know stretched ears and other "extreme" body modifications aren't for everyone, and I'm pretty sure some people will read this post and go all "eww that's so gross and bla bla". I never think about my ear lobes anymore, but it seems like everyone else does. Being the rockabilly girl as I am, I often research other rockabilly gals for inspiration and many of them have their ears stretched. It's just normal for me to see stretched ears, and I don't really pay attention to people's extreme interest in my ears any more.
Here you can see how my ear lobes are at the moment...

I work at a primary school, and obviously my ears are a big topic between the kids. I often get questions like "can I put a finger through your ear?" or "were you born like that?". That's fair enough when it comes from kids, but seriously, adults should not act like that! No, you may certainly NOT put anything in my ear, is that really something you ask people? NO.

Well, enough of the rant. The whole purpose with this post was really to show you a new awesome online store I've found. They're called Fresh Trends and they sell plenty of body jewelry and stuff, but I completely fell in love with their ear plugs (click here and I'll send you directly to the ear plugs department!). I normally wouldn't blog about accessories being very non-rockabilly, but I found some really cool wooden plugs I wanted to share with my fellow rockabilly gals (and guys?) with stretched ears. And, the best part... it's totally affordable!

Here we go... I've linked the photos as well, so if you fancy getting some of the plugs just follow the picture link :) I did all the hard work for you!

Aren't they just awesome? I know the flower isn't very rockabilly, but I couldn't help it. I love (really love) Plumeria's, and I've wanted some flower plugs for ages. Maybe I should get them? They're perfect for the Summer, even though it seems like the Summer sucks all over Europe at the moment, and I think they're really girly and cute. They'll for sure take the focus away from the giant hole in your ear..

The cool thing is also that they have a wide selection of plugs ranging from 3mm to 76mm (!!), all depending on the type of plug of course. I think that's good because I often visit online stores to get cool ear plugs, but they only come in either very small sizes or just large sizes. That's how I ended up with 16mm in my ears, I was actually looking for a 14mm ear tunnel and the only pair available was 16mm... So I didn't see any other option than making my ear lobes larger!

That's my little recommendation of the day. There's plenty more on the website, but these were my ultimate rockabilly favorites! You really can't go wrong with leopard-ish print when you're a rockabilly girl!

A day to celebrate

Hello guys and gals! Today is a big day for my little blog!

On this very day 2 years ago I posted my first blog post. That means that today is my blog's 2nd birthday, wohoo! This will be a very quick little post, but I just wanted to let you guys know the plans for the giveaway.....

First of all, there won't be any giveaway before I've hit 1000 likes on the Facebook page. But! I've planned not only one, but three prizes. Since I'm celebrating both the blog's 2nd birthday and the 1000 likes (whenever that time comes) I thought I should do a really cool giveaway, and I've decided to let THREE people win something. The prizes are still a secret, but one person will win a goodie bag with some of my favorite things in it, and two other lucky people will win "something" really awesome!

More details about the prizes and stuff will come when I've reached 1000 likes, so pop over to the FB page and like the page. The giveaway will be super cool, and I'm really excited to do one again.

That's it for now, as I'm in a bit of a hurry and I still have no make up on....

So dear blog, from me to you...

Rock that bandana with Shirk Designs

Hello!

Last week I received some cool headbands from Shirk Designs, and today I'm blogging about them for you. Many struggle with the bandana and can't figure out how to wrap and tie it correctly. Shirk Designs will for sure make that job easier for you, they come as headbands instead of "scarves" you have to fold!

I was really excited to receive these, and I was very happy when I opened the parcel seeing that I got the black one and the cherry one, my favorites!

I really love the idea and it makes it really easy to add a rockabilly twist to your style in less than a minute, just pop the headband on and you're good to go. The only problem I have with them is that they might be a bit too small for my big head! After wearing them for a while I can feel them squeezing my head in, but I guess you have to suffer for the beauty right? They are really cute, and you can get them in soooo many different versions. Her Etsy shop is full of amazing and cute headbands, and they're fairly cheap as well (well at least for a Norwegian, a headband over here like that would be expensive!). I think it's safe to say it's something for everyone in that Etsy shop, so run and check it out! You'll find the shop right here. She also sells hair clips, flower clips, pony tail holders, and some really cool tattoo inspired headbands as well. I absolutely love the tattoo headbands!

What I love about Shirk Designs is that it's aimed at rockin' gals (just like me!). Tattoos, cupcakes, swallows, cherries etc. You name it. Perfect stuff for rockabilly girls!

I took some photos with the headbands on, and I'm gonna share them with you. I'm gonna give one of them away in the 1000 Facebook likes giveaway I'm planning, but I haven't decided which one just yet.... hard choice, as I mainly want to keep both! Anyway, more info on the giveaway when I'm getting closer to 1000 likes. I'm now at 953, so we're getting there! If you haven't done so already, please pop over to my Facebook page and click like :)

Alright, time for the photos!

Pout anyone? Cherry headband.

Thanks a lot Shirk Designs for sending me these, and I really hope that my readers will now leave the blog and pop directly over to SD's Etsy to find themselves a new headband ;)
