Isadora Second Nail

Hello hello!

I love nail varnish, and I find myself buying new ones all the time. I mostly wear a nice deep red or a bright pink, but I still can't help it and I keep buying new ones to try. Over the last few months I've fallen in love with Isadora's Wonder Nail, and when they launched their Second Nail I just had to try it....

I hate it when my nails chip. That means I have to cut them, and I always have one nail shorter than the rest. My nails are quite fragile, but I keep painting them with multiple layers of nail varnish to prevent them from breaking all the time.

The Second Nail from Isadora is supposed to create a, yeah, "second nail", on top of your real nail. Ever since I had gel nails I've been hunting for a good and strong nail varnish that would do the same job without being done under a UV-lamp. I loved having gel nails but they were so difficult to remove (although the lovely Debbie at Dazzle Me With Your Tips carefully explained to me how to remove them, I just couldn't figure it out...), plus getting gel nails in Norway is rather expensive, so that's no longer an option.

I've tried the Wonder Nail products before, and I find them really easy to use because of the wide brush. I guess that's a either you love it or hate it kind of thing. When I first tried painting my nails with the wide brush I ended up hating it, but then I learnt how to do it right and now I'm totally in love. So easy!

PLUS

- The Second Nail also has the wide brush and it dries fast, which is good since the instructions said to apply two coats on a clean nail.

(Me being a total "I NEED BASE COAT FIRST" girl, I applied two coats on top of my (also Isadora) base coat)

- The color is quite nice, a natural light beige tone, very similar to the polish itself when you see it in the bottle.

- If you want to give your nails a break from reds and greens and pinks, it can work perfectly fine as a natural looking varnish.

- Can work as a protecting top coat.

MINUS

- I was really hoping for some kick ass strong nails. That didn't happen, but they were for sure harder than my natural nails.

- Started to chip just two days later.

So...?

To be very honest, I'm not in love with the Second Nail. But, even though I'm not totally in love with it, I did discover that I could use it on top of the pink nails without it toning down the bright pink color. So that's a good thing, you can apply it on top of your colored varnish as a protecting layer of some sort.

All in all, I don't regret buying it. But I won't be buying a new one when I run out either. I just can't seem to make my mind up, but I will keep using it, this time without a base coat, and see if it works better that way!

I'm gonna wrap up this little review now. I had more positive things to say rather than negative things, but I guess it just didn't live up to my expectations.

As always

I'm addicted to nail varnish and I'm always buying new as you :) The black and red are my favorite colors for the nails, but I like green and fuchsia pink too.
