Vintage 50's glasses

Remember I told you about my "new" vintage glasses I found in my dad's childhood home?

I just got them back from the optician and I can now use them! I've worn them all day and absolutely love them. I have been looking for some cool cat eye glasses for ages but never found the right pair for me. This caused me to wear normal boring glasses (and they're not that pretty either).During our holiday to Northern Norway I found the perfect pair. Well, my dad found them. We went to see his childhood home and he found his mum's old purse. Touching moment, he looked both sad and happy at the same time. He pulled out a red small purse and then he said sadly "oh, my mummy's old glasses" and took them out. They were PERFECT! I asked to try them on just for fun and realised they were the perfect pair!! I was in heaven!

Aren't they perfect?

I asked my dad if I could keep them and get the right strength so I could use them, and he said yes. I don't think he ever had dreamt of his daughter wearing his mummy's old glasses with such pride and happiness that I do today. He hasn't seen me wearing them yet but I can imagine it'll bring back some good memories for him.

The thing I like the best about them is that they have belonged to my very own grandmother, and that she's somewhere looking at me smiling. They are extremely personal, not just a pair of glasses I happened to find in a garage sale or whatever. They have been in that old house for many many years now, and would probably have stayed there forever if it hadn't been for dad opening that purse. I am extremely happy to have them and can't wait to show them to the world! But of course, before the world will see them, I wanna share them with my oh so lovely blog readers!

What do you think? I love them! :)

Major update

I haven't been around my computer for ages, I'm sorry for no blog posts!

I've just been very busy these last few days.. University started this Tuesday and it was a complete mess. Too many people packed into a building = extreme heat and sweating!! After the sweat fest I rushed off to an information meeting about my new class, and then realised I had to be two places at the same time. Obviously that doesn't work, so I had to decide. I went to one of the info meetings and emailed the other teacher responsible for my second class.

After that interesting day at school I went home and relaxed with my boyfriend. We've started our diet plan this week and so far so good! I thought it would be really hard but I'm actually coping and kinda enjoying it too. As well as the healthy diet we walk for about 45 minutes every day and I also do my hula hooping for 5 minutes every evening (between TV commercials!). I'll measure my waist on the 1st of September to check whether one month of hula hooping each day makes a difference of not.

The other thing in my life at the moment is settling into uni, establishing good study habits (yeah right) and working. When I lived in Norway before Belfast I was a substitute teacher at one of the local primary schools and I enjoyed it very much. It's good money for a student, great experience for a teacher to be and also, it keeps me busy. I only have uni two days a week this semester, meaning I would spend three days at home every week staring at the TV getting bored. Not good!! Therefore I talked to the school and they were more than happy to have me back, yay!

Today I worked 5 hours and tomorrow 4 hours. It's not much compared to what other people do, but it's great fun and easy money for a student (who's desperate to buy a Rockalily lipstick!!).

I can't wait to get to know my pupils a bit better. Right now I'm the weird lady with the red hair interrupting their classes every now and then, and I have no idea about their names or anything. Hopefully that'll change quick and we can get along well. I wanna share the top three quotes from pupils today (all about my hair!):

- "Did you know that you have red hair?" - No I didn't. I've been walking around thinking I was blonde.
- "Wow she's got red hair!" - Oh really?
- "Is that a wig?" - NO FOR CRYING OUT LOUD IT'S MY F****** HAIR! IT'S REAL! (I did not say that, just simply "no, it's my real hair" and then smiling like the sweet girl I am).

Cute kids!

Okay enough teacher talk and busy me yadi yadi ya. I wanted to say THANK YOU to all of you lovely people commenting on the pictures from my new flat. I am so happy with it myself and I'm glad that other people likes it too. I would invite you all for tea and cupcakes.....but I'm on a diet and my flat's isn't really that big.. sorry.

The thing I can do though, is to show you my new planner! I am addicted to my planner when I'm in uni. Can't live without it!! I bought a standard boring black one, but since I'm not the standard boring person so I decided to make it my own. Vargas style.

Preparation:
I have a Vargas calendar and didn't really know what to do with the pictures.. you can rip them off day by day. I haven't ripped them off and now my calender broke in two, so I had no other choice than ripping them off and doing something clever with them.

Here's the front of my planner. I placed the pictures where I wanted them to be, used a bit of tape to make sure they didn't move during the contact paper process and BAM! The name tag is a little piece of paper saying "Domestic Diva" and I got it from a good friend of mine :)

Here's the backside of the planner. Same procedure as last year Miss Sophie.
(Got a bit carried away there, sorry).

What do you think? I think my planner is the planner of all planners!

Hope you're all good and happy, and thanks for reading my blog and commenting. Don't forget to check out my Facebook page or my Twitter!

our new home

Hello people!

I've been very busy these last days with moving and unpacking. I've actually missed blogging, and it's good to be back. Just wanted to share some photos from my new flat with you guys!

My favorite place is the kitchen, it looks vintage and cute = perfect for me :) As you can see, I'm very happy with it!
Here's a little photo from my kitchen window

The rest of the kitchen

Our bedroom with the most amazing view

Something that makes me smile everytime I go in to the bathroom :)

More bathroom

One hundred thousand welcomes in Gaelic

Our hallway

Our front door with the coolest door mat!

Living room
More living room with my pictures-on-the-wall project and my new 2,2kilos hula hoop!

I've been hula hooping for 10 days now, 5 minutes every day. It doesn't sound like a lot, but it's enough for now. It's so fun and getting way easier the more you practise! Hopefully it'll give me the killer waist I want so bad.... I'll keep you updated!

That's it for now. Boyfriend is preparing dinner and I'm in my PJ's ready for a lazy Friday evening on the couch!

Hope you're all good!

this will make cooking fun

A few days ago I went to see what my friend was up to at work. She works in a hobby/art store, and I could buy the entire store if I had enough money...

The good thing is that she gives me a 50% discount (yay!) and the opportunity to buy some cute stuff came up. They have a cute vintage/retro collection in now, with different stickers, stamps, sheets etc. You name it!

She showed me the recipe set and I fell in love with it. Instead of that old huge cook book (I never use it anyway) these cards are perfect. You can also buy a little book you can design yourself to put the cards in, but I'm gonna keep them in a nice little box instead. Just have to find the perfect box...

Anyway enough rambling! Look :)

I think they are too cute! Can't wait to fill them with delicious recipes and work on my housewife skills :)

Thanks everyone!

It's too warm!!

Sorry people for the lack of blogging lately. I am still very alive, but the summer weather has finally kicked in here in Norway. Therefore I am enjoying the sun and trying to get a tan instead of staring at my computer all day long.

I hope you're all having a nice summer so far!
